Royals' Michael Ynoa: Loses roster battle

The Royals reassigned Ynoa to the minor leagues Thursday.

Ynoa had made a solid case for a bullpen role during spring training but the Royals ultimately elected to hand the final relief job to Rule 5 pick Chris Ellis. Unless he requests his release from the organization, Ynoa is expected to open the campaign at Triple-A Omaha.
