Following up on an earlier report, Pelfrey will sign a two-year, $16 million deal with the Tigers pending a physical, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.
Pelfrey should provide help for the Tigers' back-end of their starting rotation, but he struggled in 2015 with the Twins, putting together a 4.26 ERA and 1.48 WHIP in 164.2 innings. While his 86:45 K:BB this season took a tumble from his previous career marks, Pelfrey's sinker/fastball velocity was the highest it's been since 2012, so there certainly is some reason for optimism. He'll likely warrant some consideration in AL-only leagues, but he isn't expected to produce big numbers with the Tigers.
