Avila is out of the lineup Sunday against the Rays, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
He's been behind the plate for three of the White Sox's last three games, and while he still appears to have an edge over Dioner Navarro for regular catching duties, he may need to show more offensive production to keep his spot atop the depth chart. Avila has batted just 3-for-22 (.136) with no extra-base hits on the season.
