White Sox's Nick Williams: Designated for assignment

Williams was designated for assignment by the White Sox on Thursday.

Williams had started three of the last five games ahead of highly touted prospect Andrew Vaughn in left field. That evidently didn't mean the White Sox thought too highly of him, however, as he's no longer deemed worthy of a 40-man roster spot. Williams has hit .138/.200/.224 in limited action over the last three years, so he seemingly has a good chance of passing through waivers unclaimed.
