Parsons (knee) has been ruled out of Wednesday's regular season opener against the Timberwolves, Michael Wallace of Grizzlies.com reports.

It was recently revealed that Parsons practiced in full both Saturday and Sunday, but the Grizzlies are going to play it safe and keep him sidelined to start the season. Parsons will likely have to work on his conditioning and could have his knee evaluated again later in the week. With that said, there still appears to be a chance he's cleared for Saturday's outing versus the Knicks, which would give him just under a week for further recovery. The Grizzlies have yet to name a starter at small forward in his absence, but the most likely candidates would be either James Ennis or rookie Tory Williams.
