Westbrook amassed 34 points (13-30 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 4-5 FT), 13 assists, eight rebounds and two steals across 36 minutes in Tuesday's 111-109 loss to the Lakers.
Westbrook's quest for a third straight triple-double fell just short, but the point guard's heroics late in the game was the major reason why the Thunder held a one-point lead before the Lakers' Nick Young buried the go-ahead three-point bucket with five seconds left. He poured in 17 of his 34 points during a five-minute spurt in the fourth quarter to help the Thunder overcome a double-digit deficit. The outburst ultimately wasn't enough for the Thunder to win their ninth game of the season, but Westbrook's sixth straight 30-plus-point effort allowed him to surpass the Raptors' DeMar DeRozan for the NBA scoring lead.
