Paul Perkins has the chance to be the starting running back for the Giants, which makes him a breakout candidate heading into this season. He still has plenty to prove after a relatively quiet rookie year in 2016, but he could step into a big role on what should be an explosive offense. In 2016, Perkins opened the season behind Rashad Jennings and Shane Vereen, but Jennings proved to be ineffective, while Vereen was injured. By the end of the season, Perkins got more work and started to show he could be capable of starting. Perkins closed the season with four games in a row with double digits in carries, totaling 62 carries for 271 yards (4.4-yards per carry) over that span. He had 21 carries for 102 yards (4.9-yards per carry) in Week 17 at Washington and averaged at least 4.5-yards per carry in his final three outings. Now, he only had 15 catches for 162 yards for the season, and he could be limited as a receiver if Vereen is healthy. And he failed to score a touchdown for the year, but that will come if he gets the work expected as a starter. Perkins is worth drafting no later than Round 5 of 6 in standard leagues and Round 7 in PPR, and he could be a solid Fantasy option if he remains the starting running back for the Giants in 2017.
