McKelvin, who missed the first seven games of the season as he recovered from a broken ankle the previous season, ended up playing in nine games for the Bills in 2015. He logged 32 tackles and two interceptions.
McKelvin didn't seem to miss a beat when he returned. Even though rookie Ronald Darby had taken over the No. 2 cornerback spot across from Stephon Gilmore by then - quite capably, mind you - McKelvin was an important midseason addition given that he was able to serve as a safety given all kinds of injuries to that group. McKelvin also started at cornerback once Gilmore was lost for the final four weeks with a shoulder injury. With Gilmore and Darby back for another season, McKelvin - assuming the Bills keep him and his high salary around - may have to serve as the versatile backup in 2016.
