Herndon (undisclosed) won't play in Saturday's preseason contest in Tennessee, Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
The Chargers will hold out a number of wide receivers in their exhibition opener, with Travis Benjamin (undisclosed), Tyrell Williams, and Rico Richardson joining Herndon on the sideline. Missing most of training camp with an undisclosed injury hasn't helped Herndon's case for a regular role, but he did prove himself capable last season, recording three catches in each of the last four games.
