Clemens completed eight of 15 passes for 96 yards, and added four on a scramble in Saturday's preseason debut at Tennessee.

Clemens was the next quarterback to enter the game after starter Philip Rivers got the opening drive, and he also thoroughly outplayed Zach Mettenberger (2-for-8 with an interception). The veteran is clearly ahead of Mettenberger in the competition for San Diego's backup quarterback spot at the moment, but nothing's set in stone yet.
