With Jamaal Charles on IR, the Chiefs currently field a backfield comprised of West, Knile Davis and Spencer Ware, ESPN.com reports.

The Chiefs had the likes of Ben Tate, Pierre Thomas, Isaiah Pead and Bryce Brown in for workouts this week, but for now, they'll stick with in-house-replacements for Charles. Per the Chiefs' posted depth chart, which no longer includes Charles, Davis is still listed ahead of West, at least on paper, but it's important to note that this past Sunday against the Bears, West finished the day with 31 yards on seven carries, while Davis carried the ball just twice for two yards. As the Chiefs move on without Charles, a committee approach utilizing both Davis and West figures to be the team's strategy going forward, beginning Sunday against the Vikings, according to NFL.com. At 5-foot-10, 227 pounds, Davis -- who has had some success filling in for Charles in the past -- is a "good one to go downhill with," per coach Andy Reid. Meanwhile, Reid notes that the 5-foot-10, 205-pound West and Charles are "closer together (skill set-wise) than what Knile is as far as the quick moves." The bottom line here is that it looks like the Chiefs could initially elect to employ West and Davis as a one-two backfield punch in the absence of Charles, which enhances the fantasy upside of both backs, though it may take a game or so until a tangible pecking order on that front becomes evident.
