A stinger that caused Giants LB Jameel McClain to leave practice Wednesday has Tom Coughlin pessimistic about his future, per NJ.com.
McClain was laying on the field with his legs motionless for at least a minute. Coughlin is not sure when he can return, but he knows it won't be soon.
"Chances are because of the extent of the trauma, he's going to have to sit for a while," Coughlin said. "I wouldn't be able to guess (a timetable for his return)."
Coughlin added that his caution was partly influenced by McClain's injury history, which includes a neck injury that threatened his livelihood.
McClain has been a full-time starter throughout since entering the league in 2008, including his first season with the Giants in 2014, when he contributed to a career-high 116 tackles.
