Blount has signed a one-year deal to remain with the Patriots, NFL.com reports.

The 29-year-old Blount, who landed on IR last December after suffering a chipped bone in his hip, is said to be back to 100 percent, so the 6-foot, 250-pounder will now look to reprise his role as the Patriots' top power back. While the terms of his deal with the team have not been made public, given that Blount lasted this long in free agency suggests that a team-friendly deal is in play here. When he was on the field in 2015, Blount logged 165 carries for 703 yards and six TDs over a 12 game span. His experience and level of success in the New England offense makes this a low-risk reunion, though the likes of Dion Lewis, James White, Donald Brown and Brandon Bolden remain in the mix for touches in the team's backfield. Moreover, it wouldn't surprise us to see the team land another running back option at or after the NFL draft later this month.
