The Steelers placed Alualu (ankle) on injured reserve Monday.
Alualu fractured his ankle during Sunday's contest against the Raiders and will miss a significant amount of the season after undergoing surgery. It's the 14-year veteran's first serious injury of his career. After being placed on IR, it will officially be the first time he misses more than two games in a single season.
