McNeill signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Blackhawks on Friday.

McNeill made his NHL debut last season with the 'Hawks, registering three hits during 12:44 of ice time on Jan. 26 against the Hurricanes. The 23-year-old forward spent the rest of the season in the minors, compiling 48 points (25 goals, 23 assists) over 64 games with AHL Rockford. The 2011 first-round pick will once again spend the majority of the 2016-17 campaign in the minors, but should get a few more opportunities to suit up for the big club over the course of the season.
