Nordstrom appears on track to start Thursday's Season Opener against the Jets, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.

Nordstrom underwent offseason wrist surgery, but he returned to training camp healthy. The 24-year-old recorded a plus-1 rating over 15:14 minutes of ice time in Sunday's preseason finale against the Capitals and figures to have no limitations heading into Opening Night. A playmaking center, he tallied 24 points in his first season with the Hurricanes and is projected to assume a second-line role alongside Jordan Staal and Andrej Nestrasil to start the upcoming campaign.
