Malone was waived by Edmonton on Saturday.
Malone will be assigned to the minors if he clears. He provided one goal and one assist in eight games with the Oilers last year. Malone spent the majority of the 2021-22 season in the AHL with Bakersfield, supplying 14 goals and 39 points over 52 contests.
