Red Wings' Brendan Smith: Placed on IR, out around four weeks

Smith (knee) will miss approximately four weeks, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.

As expected, the Red Wings have placed Smith on injured reserve, per the NHL's official media site. With that timeline, it's possible we won't see the Ontario native until early 2017. While he hasn't done a whole lot from a fantasy perspective -- four points and a minus-3 rating in 20 games -- Smith had been used modestly on the power play and his size and grit will certainly be missed in the lineup, especially with the team also missing up-and-coming Alexey Marchenko (upper body).
