The Red Wings claimed Frk off waivers Tuesday and subsequently assigned him to AHL Grand Rapids, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Frk was cut by the Red Wings ahead of Opening Night, and then he became property of the Hurricanes when they claimed him off waivers. It's clear that Detroit's GM Ken Holland never truly wanted to part ways with the prospect; after all, he's known for rigid work ethic and scoring ability at the lower levels. We'd expect that Frk will be a popular call-up option if and when injuries transpire up front.
