Carter (hand) won't play Tuesday against the Blue Jackets, Michael Russo of the Star Tribune reports.

Carter took part in Tuesday's morning skate, and reportedly could play if necessary, but won't primarily for precautionary reasons. The 32-year-old winger has been dealing with a nagging hand injury for awhile now, so the Wild are hoping his absence Tuesday will help him fully recover from the ailment. Given the optimism surrounding his situation, Carter may be able to return to action as soon as Thursday against the Flyers.
