There are only three days and change left in 2013, which means spring training is drawing closer and closer. The pitching market has yet to take shape but that should happen very soon now that Masahiro Tanaka has been officially posted. These next few weeks should be pretty exciting.

The hot stove flame has been flickering during the holidays, so there was no major news to report on Saturday. Here's a recap of the day's action:

SIGNINGS

Royals: Signed IF Jason Donald and OF Melky Mesa to minor league contracts with invitations to spring training, the team announced.

ROSTER CUTS

Padres: Designated RHP Adys Portillo for assignment, the team announced. The move clears room on the 40-man roster for RHP Joaquin Benoit, whose two-year contract is now official.

RUMORS & SPECULATION

Twins: Have interest in RHP Masahiro Tanaka. That said, a team official called it a "long process" and said it is "very difficult to know where it stands." (1500 ESPN)
