The Orioles will place 1B Chris Davis on the 15-day disabled list with an oblique strain. As MLB.com's Britt Ghiroli writes, Davis had hoped to avoid a roster move, but an MRI revealed the injury to be more serious than initially believed. David sustained the injury on Friday night.

This season, the 28-year-old Davis is batting .250/.372/.382 with two home runs in 22 games. In 2013, he led the majors with 53 homers. For his career, he owns an OPS+ of 121 across parts of seven major-league seasons.
