The Marlins made their first selling move Monday as they sent out starter Anibal Sanchez and second baseman Omar Infante to the Tigers for a package centered around minor league starter Jacob Turner. The deal was first reported by Fox Sports's Jon Morosi.
Miami may not be done dealing. Earlier, Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reported the Marlins are "extremely disappointed" with the team and are "prepared to make a series of trades." The Marlins are 44-51 on the season, 11.5 out of the NL East and eight games behind the second Wild Card.
The Marlins still have plenty of assets beyond Sanchez and Infante. Hanley Ramirez and Josh Johnson are the most prominent, but it's tough to imagine many beyond new free agent signing Jose Reyes are untouchable. The Red Sox already have expressed interest in Johnson. A source shot down rumors that the Marlins are looking to jettison Ramirez, but his name will be on radar screens nonetheless.
