Dodgers left-hander Clayton Kershaw threw his first career no-hitter on Wednesday night, striking out 15 Rockies in a game that was as close to perfect as it gets. A Hanley Ramirez throwing error accounted for Colorado's only base-runner.
The no-hitter was the first of Kershaw's big league career but not of his life. Far from it. Like just about every MLB pitcher, he chucked a few of them in high school. Kershaw even threw a perfect game in high school, and in that game he struck out every batter he faced. Oh, and he hit a home run. Here's the video:
Mechanics are a little different, not as refined and consistent, but the curveball sure is there, huh? Imagine a high school kid throwing that thing. Crazy.
