I've been going to baseball games for a long time, and I've caught exactly one ball. I didn't even catch it -- the entire section was empty and I was the first to run over and pick it up. I was a kid, 9 or 10 years old at the most, and it was pretty much the greatest moment in the history of the world. It was awesome.

Thankfully there was no one else around to grab that ball. I had no competition. During last night's Pirates-Cubs game, this poor kid had no such luck when he went after Darnell McDonald's ground-rule double:

Not only did the fully grown adult run over the kid to get the ball, he basically tackled him down the stairs. Jerk of the day? Jerk of the day.
