Padres' Joe Beimel: Attempting comeback with Padres
Beimel signed a minor-league contract with the Padres on Friday and will report to Double-A San Antonio, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports.
It would be quite the story if Beimel manages to crack the major-league roster at some point this season. He owns a respectable 4.06 ERA in 680 innings at the major-league level, but the last of those came all the way back in 2015. The lefty is now 44 years old but has apparently kept his arm fresh, as he was clocked in the mid-90s recently after never averaging 90 mph with his fastball in any of his 13 major-league seasons.

The 39-year-old southpaw had pitched 14.2 innings across 12 games at Triple-A Omaha before being released. Beimel had been struggling, as he'd posted a 4.30 ERA and 1.91 WHIP. His last stint in the MLB came during the 2015 season, during which he had a 3.99 ERA and 1.37 WHIP with the Mariners.

Marlins' Joe Beimel: Must pass physical to get minor-league contract with Royals
Beimel has agreed to a minor league contract with the Royals, Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports reports.
Beimel will be required to pass a physical before being able to play, but the Royals have seen his MRI and believe his elbow is OK. He's had both shoulder and elbow issues in the past, but was given a clean bill of health recently by Dr. James Andrews. Beimel will likely be relegated to organizational depth for the major league bullpen. The veteran hasn't played in a game this season.

Marlins' Joe Beimel: Inks deal with Miami
Beimel signed with the Marlins on Thursday and will report to extended spring training, MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports.
The 39-year-old Beimel tossed 47.1 innings for the Mariners in 2015, collecting a 3.99 ERA but striking out just 4.2 batters per nine innings. He'll likely start his tenure with the club in the minors, but could end up in the Miami bullpen later this year if a need for a lefty reliever arises.
