Charlotte Bobcats forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is set to return Tuesday after missing five weeks with a broken hand

“I was running miles a day. I thought I was a track star out there the way I was running,” Kidd-Gilchrist said, joking about how he spent his rehab time for a broken left hand.

“And my hand was itching in that cast – that wasn’t fun at all.”

Kidd-Gilchrist is out of the cast and off the daily injury report. He has been cleared to play Tuesday against the New York Knicks, and coach Steve Clifford plans to start him.

MKG returns to a Bobcats team in a much worse position than when he left. The Cats fell apart defensively on a West Coast road trip and in the last five games have a league-worst 115.9 points allowed per 100 possessions. MKG's perimeter defense willl hopefully help that.

Kidd-Gilchrist is averaging 9.1 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. The Bobcats are 8.4 points per 100 possessions better defensively with MKG on the floor this season.
