After slowing down for a week or so, the Carmelo Anthony rumors are starting to swirl once again.

According to a report from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the New York Knicks have a "renewed willingness" to make a deal that would send Carmelo to the Houston Rockets following their acquisition of Tim Hardaway Jr.Via ESPN:

The Knicks' acquisition of Hardaway Jr., to the staggering deal is expected to trigger a renewed willingness to work with the Houston Rockets on trade scenarios to unload Carmelo Anthony, league sources told ESPN.

The Rockets have been persistent in their pursuit of Anthony, who is willing to waive his no-trade clause to join Chris Paul and James Harden in Houston, league sources told ESPN, and the Knicks do not imagine a scenario where Hardaway Jr. is sharing the floor with Anthony to start the season.

Both the Knicks and Melo have had a turbulent summer, with Phil Jackson kicking off the offseason with a public declaration that the Knicks would be better off without the All-Star forward next year. Then there were the Kristaps Porzingis trade rumors, followed by the sudden departure of Jackson from the Knicks front office.

Carmelo has since reportedly become willing to waive his no-trade clause, but only for a deal to the Rockets or Cleveland Cavaliers. And now that the Knicks have an increased willingness to make a deal, Carmelo could be on his way out of New York, after all.

The original reports mentioned that the Knicks were originally reluctant to work on a deal with the Rockets, as they did not want to take back Ryan Anderson. As of now, however, there are no details on any players that would be involved, and nothing seems imminent.

That could all change rather quickly, however, as we've seen throughout the past few weeks that news can come in flurries.
