Real GM reports that the Nuggets are interested in signing free agent forward Alonzo Gee to give them another wing option.

Gee, 27, averaged four points and 2.7 rebounds last season for Cleveland after falling out of favor with Mike Brown. Gee was undrafted before latching on with the Spurs' D-League team. San Antonio had interest in signing him, but Washington wound up grabbing him. He finally found his way into the starting rotation with the Cavs during their rebuilding era, but was traded this summer to create salary cap room. And then traded again. And then traded again. And then waived.

He was traded to the Pelicans to make room for LeBron and friends, then moved to Houston in the Omer Asik deal. Then the Rockets sent him to Sacramento in the Jason Terry trade, and Sacramento waived him.

So his rights have had quite the travel itinerary this summer.

The Nuggets have 13 players on guaranteed contracts, via ShamSports. They have another two on partially or non-guaranteed deals, point gaurd Erick Green and forward Quincy Miller. One of the two would have to be waived to make room for Gee. The Nuggets are pretty deep on the wing with Arron Afflalo, Randy Foye, Gary Harris, Danilo Gallinari, and Wilson Chandler, but only Gallinari and Chandler are pure 3s, and Chandler plays a bit of time at power forward.

Gee would give them a defensive three, insurance against Gallinari who is coming off of a botched ACL repair, and some room to move Chandler's $6.7 million expiring contract. (Chandler's contract is only $2 million guaranteed in 2015, per Sham Sports.)
