With the fifth overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans selected wide receiver Corey Davis out of Western Michigan.

Tennessee Titans

Pete Prisco's Grade: B+

Although CBSSports.com senior NFL writer Pete Prisco doesn't think the Titans should have gone with an offensive player at No. 5, he does like that they took Davis.

"He's the best receiver in this draft. I like this pick. Solid. But what about defensive backs?"

Instant analysis

The NCAA's all-time leader in career receiving yards (5,285) is headed for Tennessee, where he should contribute right away as long as he isn't limited by an ankle injury, an injury that does add some risk element to this pick. Davis didn't participate at the combine or at Western Michigan's pro day due to two torn ligaments in his ankle. As recently as April 21, Davis said he wasn't 100 percent, which mean's he'll be spending rookie camp trying to get healthy. Davis should be an instant contributor in for an atrocious passing offense that ranked 30th overall in the NFL last season.

Fantasy impact

The Titans needed to give Marcus Mariota a weapon, and this is perfect since he's the best receiver in the draft. He could emerge as the No. 1 receiver ahead of Rishard Matthews, but he should play right away and contribute. Now, he's just a No. 3 Fantasy receiver at best, and he's only worth a mid-round pick in all seasonal formats. But he's a No. 1 pick in dynasty leagues and should be the first receiver off the board in those formats. And Mariota is now locked in as a No. 1 Fantasy quarterback with this move.

NFL comparison

Michael Thomas: Although Davis is a slightly better athlete, he draws the Thomas comparison because of their size, route-running and ability to be productive despite lacking a true distinguishing trait.
