Cardinals Notebook: No more witness protection program for tackle D.J. Young

D.J. Young will compete with D'Anthony Batiste, Nate Potter and Jeremy Bridges for the starting left tackle spot now that Levi Brown is out with a triceps injury for the Cardinals.

• The practice squad is a sort of witness-protection program that shielded offensive tackle D.J. Young from the public eye last season. All that changed last Friday when starting left tackle Levi Brown suffered a torn triceps tendon, an injury that could keep him out for the season. Young will be in the starting lineup for Thursday's preseason game against the Titans, but several other Cardinals are under consideration for the job, including D'Anthony Batiste, rookie Nate Potter and veteran Jeremy Bridges, Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic reported.
