Odell Beckham Jr. is entering his third season, but the Giants wide receiver instantly became a household name late in his rookie campaign when he made that physics-defying three-fingered catch against the Cowboys.

Much of last season was spent trying to live up to near-impossible expectations, and Beckham, who had 96 receptions for 1,450 yards and 13 touchdowns, availed himself nicely. But all the attention made him a target, and things came to a head when Beckham faced off against then-Panthers cornerback Josh Norman and proceeded to lose his mind. Beckham's antics led to a one-game suspension.

But the rivalry didn't end there; earlier this week, Beckham said he's the only reason Norman has become relevant.

Norman, of course, was asked for his thoughts on the matter.

"I don't even know how you respond to that other than laugh," he said. "I don't know what you get out of that. I mean, I don't know, man. There's a time when people who honor themselves will fall short, so when that day comes, we'll just see."

We're rehashing all this because NBA legend Charles Barkley has now weighed in on the silliness.

"Well that's just stupid," Barkley said Friday during an appearance on NFL Network. "Josh Norman is fantastic. I mean, c'mon man. I think that Beckham, I don't know him I've only said hello to him one time. There's two ways fame works: You run fame or fame runs you. And it can get out of hand very quickly.

"And I think Odell Beckham is a stud and he's getting a lot of commercials, but I think he's starting to get to the point where he's becoming too famous instead of worrying how to become a great football player. I think he needs to be careful. Just lay low and just kick butt on the field. I mean, nobody cares about all that extracurricular stuff. And Josh Norman, he earned his money. Congratulations to that man."

Interestingly, Beckham admitted last offseason that The Catch had become something of a distraction.

"It's unfortunate, in a way, to be known only for 'The Catch,'" he said at the time. "There were so many other things I did during the season; it's hard for me to distinguish myself because of that catch. I know that I'm more than that. But at least people know you, you know what I mean?"
