Joseph Randle's legal problems have apparently taken a serious toll on his bank account. The former Cowboys running back is stuck in jail because he can't afford to make bail -- at least, that's what he told a Kansas judge.

Randle made his first court appearance on Wednesday, following his fifth arrest in 17 months. The 24-year-old was hit with seven charges during his court appearance, including four counts of aggravated battery and one count of marijuana possession.

The former Cowboys running back was arrested on Sunday after allegedly hitting three people with his car outside of a home in Wichita.

During his court appearance, Randle told Judge Jeffrey Goering that he couldn't afford bail or a lawyer. Randle's bail was set at $100,000.

"I don't got no money for bond or nothing like that," Randle said, via the Wichita Eagle. "I was wondering if I could get my bond lowered to $5,000, so I can get out and go work out. I've got plans to go to California as soon as possible."

The Cowboys running back made almost $1.4 million during his two-and-a-half-year NFL career. The judge suggested that Randle fill out a form for a court appointed attorney, who could then argue to have Randle's bail reduced.

Randle asked for a lower bail because he claims that he never hit anyone with his car.

"I don't recall ever driving that car," Randle said, via KAKE.com.  "I only sat in the car and went back up to the door to check up on the person that I rode with. That's all I did. I never drove the car."

Randle's legal troubles date back to October 2014 when he was charged with shoplifting after stealing underwear from a Dallas mall. Randle was also arrested in February 2015, November 2015 and earlier this month.

The Cowboys cut ties with Randle in November and shortly after that, he was hit with a four-game suspension by the NFL.

Randle's next hearing in Kansas is scheduled for March 25.
