Defensive tackle Bobby Skinner's stint with the Giants lasted less than a day. Skinner practiced with the team in the afternoon but was cut in the evening to make room for defensive tackle Marcus Thomas.
Thomas (6-3, 307) worked out for the Giants on Thursday and left the building with a new deal in place. The former Denver Bronco played in 76 games over his first five years in the league, registering 180 tackles and 34 starts.
After overcoming shoulder and pectoral issues in 2011, Thomas recorded a career-high 43 tackles in just 12 games. Interestingly, it was the first time Thomas had ever missed time with an injury.
Thomas will be counted on to replace Shaun Rogers, whose season was cut short because of a blood clot in his lower leg. The Giants' other injuries at defensive tackle include Chris Canty (knee, PUP), Martin Parker (back, waived-injured) and Marvin Austin, who will have more tests on his ailing back.
