In September of 2014, Brandon Marshall played one of the guttiest games in recent years. A little more than a week after suffering a high ankle sprain, Marshall returned to the field to lead the Bears past the 49ers, 28-20, by catching three touchdowns in the first-ever regular season game at Levi's Stadium

One of those touchdowns was Odell Beckham-esque before OBJ even made his iconic one-handed grab:

But Marshall doesn't really remember that performance because of painkillers. Here's what Marshall, now with the Jets, had to say about that game, per Pro Football Talk:

"I don't really remember much about that game because I worked really hard to get back from a high ankle -- well, I don't want to go there. Um, well, I'll say it: I took a couple pain pills. I took a couple pain pills that masked the pain. I really wasn't supposed to play. I came back from a high ankle within 10 days. I was supposed to be out four-to-six weeks. I don't really remember much about that game. I just remember catching those balls and that was pretty much it."

The topic of painkillers has come up in recent months as multiple former and current players have pushed for the NFL to consider other pain remedies, like marijuana. In July, Brett Favre admitted to taking a month's worth of painkillers in two days and Calvin Johnson said that trainers handed out painkillers "like candy."

More than 1,500 players are currently involved in a lawsuit against the NFL. According to the Associated Press, the "players contend they were routinely and indiscriminately given powerful painkillers, often without prescriptions or even a cursory exam, to mask pain and injuries and get them back on the field without regard for their long-term health."
