The NFL is reportedly adding two highly respected figures to the competition committee. As first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter, Broncos general manager John Elway and Cardinals coach Bruce Arians will be joining the committee.

Broncos coach Gary Kubiak, whose relationship with Elway dates back to their playing days, approved of his boss' new job, which pretty much confirmed half of Schefter's report.

On the other hand, Arians refused to provide confirmation -- at least for now.

The league's competition committee is responsible for reviewing "all competitive aspects of the game, including (but not limited to) playing rules, roster regulations, technology, game-day operations and player protection,"as the website puts it. So the committee is important, especially as aspects like the catch-rule and player safety hopefully undergo renovations in the near future.

Elway and Arians are certainly qualified. After Elway's Hall-of-Fame playing career, which lasted 16 years, he's worked in the Broncos' front office since 2011. Meanwhile, Arians has coached the Cardinals since 2013 and took his first-ever NFL assistant coaching job way back in 1989.

With that being said, now that Arians is reportedly a member of the committee that can have an effect on the rule changes the NFL undergoes in the name of player safety, he might want to avoid making more comments about how moms are attacking football.
