In March, the Dolphins parted ways with Karlos Dansby for salary-cap reasons. On Friday, the linebacker found a new home with an old team: Dansby agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Cardinals, the team that originally selected him in the second round of the 2004 NFL Draft out of Auburn.

The Jets, Bills, Falcons, Texans and Bengals also expressed interest in Dansby, who was reportedly looking for a multiyear deal. Ultimately, he settled for the Cardinals, where he started 82 games from 2004-2010, amassed 25.5 sacks, 10 interceptions and 11 forced fumbles. He also appeared in Super Bowl XLIII in February 2009 when the Steelers defeated the Cardinals, 27-23.

In March 2010, Dansby signed a five-year, $43 million contract with the Dolphins, including $22 million in guarantees. When Miami released him earlier this offseason, he was set to make $6.05 million in 2013. The 31-year-old led the Dolphins with 134 tackles last season, good for 11th in the league.

Now he returns to the Valley of the Sun under new coach Bruce Arians and new defensive coordinator Todd Bowles.

“It’s a blessing to have this opportunity to chase a ring with two guys I know I came in with, Darnell Dockett and Larry Fitzgerald," Dansby told SiriusXM NFL Radio (via PFT).  “Another opportunity to take a stab at it.  It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity, I had to advantage of it just to take a shot at to be a legend, and try to get in that [Cardinals] Ring of Honor. ...

“I was already out here working out and training anyway,” Dansby continued, explaining why the Cardinals made sense.  “I still had the house out here.  I never sold it.  Family was here, just had another son.  It’s perfect timing, man.  It’s the perfect fit and they needed my services.  They wanted me back in the building.  [general manager] Steve Keim had a vision. ... It was a no-brainer, man.  They opened their arms to me, and I came back."
