Last season wasn't a great one for Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald. In his defense, it's hard to have a great season when your starting quarterbacks are John Skelton (six games), Kevin Kolb (five games), Ryan Lindley (four games) and Brian Hoyer (one game).
With those four under center at different times in 2012, Fitzgerald ended the season with career lows in yards per reception (11.2) and receiving touchdowns (4), and he had the second-lowest yardage total (798) of his nine-year career.
With the arrival of Carson Palmer from Oakland, Fitzgerald is expecting bigger things in 2013.
"Look, this is a big year for me coming off my worst season as a pro," Fitzgerald said via USA Today. "I know Carson wants to play well this year. This is a huge year, and we're leaning on each other. It's as simple as that. I need him as bad as anybody, and I'm going to go out there and give everything I can for him."
Fitzgerald and Palmer are both in Minnesota this week at Camp Fitzgerald. That's where Fitzgerald rounds up a group of players to work out with him in Minneapolis. Besides Palmer and Fitzgerald, this year's group includes New England's Leon Washington and Blaine Gabbert, and Chad Henne and Jordan Shipley from Jacksonville.
One of the ideas of Camp Fitzgerald is to get a jump on conditioning.
"The goal," Palmer said, "is to come into training camp and be ready -- not have a day or two where you're kind of getting back into the swing of things -- and try to get rhythm and timing down."
Once Camp Fitzgerald ends, Palmer and Fitzgerald won't have much down time. Arizona veterans are scheduled to report to training camp July 25.
