As kickoff of Detroit's final preseason game approaches, it's impossible to notice that there's definitely something missing at Ford Field, namely fans.

A liberal application of the NFL's blackout regulations will allow the Lions to televise Friday's game vs. the Bills in the Detroit area, but the atmosphere in the stadium is a far cry from what opponents can expect to encounter during the regular season.

All of Detroit's first team players except RB Mikel Leshoure will see very limited reps against the Bills. Leshoure is expected to have a heavier workload since Friday's game will be his final action before his two-game suspension begins. The focus of Friday's game is on the reserve players who are fighting for the final places on Detroit's roster.

Here's a look at some reserve battles that could be decided on the field Friday:

P – Ben Graham vs. Ryan DonahueJim Schwartz hasn't been happy with either player's consistency, so expect the pair to get an equal chance to prove themselves. An indication of who's ahead in this battle is which player serves as Jason Hanson's holder on kicks.

CB – Justin Miller vs. Alphonso SmithMiller's versatility and special teams experience have caught the attention of Lions' coaches. He's also moved up the depth chart in team drills. Smith was tabbed to compete for the starting CB job when camp began, but his play has regressed. Miller replaced Smith in the starting lineup for Friday's game. If Smith wants to remain a Lion, he's going to have to make some big plays against the Bills.

WR – Maurice Stovall vs. Nate Hughes vs. Patrick Edwards: With the starters expected to make an early exit, all three players should have ample opportunities to stake their claim to the final WR roster spot. While their play on offense could bolster their case to make the team, this position will likely be decided on special teams. All three players will be hoping for lots of kickoff and punt team reps to showcase their skills.
