The Saints could be awfully thin at wide receiver for Sunday night’s game against San Diego.

Interim coach Aaron Kromer ruled starter Lance Moore out on Friday with a right hamstring injury and said WR Joe Morgan was questionable with a knee problem after practicing fully earlier in the week.

If Morgan can’t play, the Saints will be left with normal starters Marques Colston and Devery Henderson, special teams ace Courtney Roby and recent pickup Greg Camarillo as their only options at receiver.

Camarillo, whom the Saints have signed three times and cut twice since training camp, has zero catches. Roby has one. Henderson, who missed a game after suffering a concussion in the season opener against Washington, has six.

“Devery needs to step up,” Kromer said. “As you see him progressing through the year, he’s looking faster and faster. Even though we’re losing a receiver per game it seems, one guy sits out and another guy steps up. That’s happened to us consistently this year.”

New Orleans also will be without linebacker David Hawthorne (right hamstring) for the second consecutive game. His backup, Jonathan Casillas, is questionable with a neck injury after not playing against Green Bay last Sunday, so Will Herring could get his second straight start at weakside ‘backer.

Rookie RB Travaris Cadet (right shoulder) also is out along with reserve DE Turk McBride (sprained ankle), who has not played since the first game. Safety Roman Harper is questionable with a right hip injury after being limited in practice this week.

Down to his second-to-last chance to get a win before ceding the interim coach status when Joe Vitt comes off his bounty suspension, Kromer said the Saints were healthier mentally that at any time this season.

“We used the same approach as we did before the Green Bay game,” he said. “It was very intense, but we didn’t use our shoulder pads, and that kept us fresh for the game. We weren’t banging a lot during the week.”
