Is Polamalu headed to the Hall of Fame? Did Jones once drop 28 points on Griffin? (USATSI)
Most reasonable people can agree that when Steelers safety Troy Polamalucalls it a career, he'll one day end up in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Let's just hope that if KDKA color analyst Edmund Nelson, who played seven seasons for the Steelers, plans on attending the ceremony, he gets directions to Canton.

During Saturday's Chiefs-Steelers telecast, Nelson praised Polamalu after the 11th-year safety blew up a Chiefs' running play. Then Nelson offered this:

"Unbelievable football player, will be hard to ever replace a guy like Troy Polamalu. We expect to see him one day up in Akron, going into the Hall of Fame."

(You can listen to Nelson here)

It's innocuous and funny and far worse can happen during live television. And who knows, maybe Nelson and Polamalu plan to meet in Akron and drive to the Hall of Fame -- in Canton -- together when that fateful day arrives.

But that wasn't the most noteworthy observation Nelson made Saturday.

Allow myself to retweet … myself.

While a quick Google search didn't yield any specific mentions of Jarvis Jones' 28-point performance, we did find this from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, published days after the Steelers drafted Jones this April.

"Jones enrolled at Carver High School and started playing football only after his coaches told him he couldn't play basketball if he didn't play football. Jones spent every summer traveling the country and playing national AAU tournaments against future NBA players such as O.J. Mayo, Blake Griffin and Kevin Love."

No word on if Jones ever played a tournament in Akron.
