The Texans survived the first week of training camp but not without a few nerve-racking moments. Things started on Sunday when wide receiver Andre Johnson tweaked his groin. He has missed practice since the injury. Left tackle Duane Brown went down Wednesday morning with a lower leg bruise and is still out. Then, defensive end J.J. Watt dislocated his left elbow on Thursday and will miss time. The good news is that all players are expected back before the start of the regular season.

Who’s here: While everyone isn’t healthy, everyone is at least present. The Texans had all of their rookies signed before camp, and they have not had to deal with any contract issues despite several players entering the final year of their deals, most notably QB Matt Schaub, Brown and LB Connor Barwin. Outside of the injuries, there have not been any distractions for Houston.

Who's not: Coach Gary Kubiak hopes to have both Johnson and Brown back next week, but he's not rushing either back. Watt will miss time, but his elbow injury will not require surgery. Cornerback Kareem Jackson continues to nurse a hamstring injury, but it isn’t considered serious. Third-year LB Darryl Sharpton remains on the PUP list. He was hoping to get back out on the field for the first time since tearing his quadriceps last year, but he suffered a setback in his rehab, injuring his hip. Kubiak doesn’t expect Sharpton to be back for a few weeks.
