Unfriending someone on Facebook is a modern-day wound you can't sew back up. Unfollowing someone on Twitter is a close second (although not nearly as bad). DeAngelo Williams knows the sting of 21st century divorce, having been unfollowed by the Carolina Panthers on Twitter after he was released by the team.

Williams was in the middle of a Q & A on Twitter when someone asked if he still had a Panthers tickets hook-up. The running back, now with the Steelers, told the world the Panthers unfollowed him on Twitter the same day he was cut!

Bad news, DeAngelo: a similar fate awaits you in Pittsburgh. Mike Tomlin doesn't play at all when it comes to his Twitter followees.

It's also worth noting that neither the @PanthersPR account nor actual members of the Panthers organization unfollowed Williams.

The team account just follows the players who are on the team and when Williams was off the team, he was off the Twitter follow list. Look who the Panthers follow and it's basically all the NFL teams, all the Panthers players, Charlotte's sports teams, some members of the NFL media (but, um, AHEM) and a few other random, biz-related accounts.

This is totally fine: it's hard to follow a bajillion people. You've got to be selective and use Twitter your own way.

What's really hilarious is it looks like Williams also unfollowed the Panthers! Hell hath no fury like a friend unfollowed.
