Good thing you don't need your appendix to play football because Vikings fullback Jerome Felton doesn't have one anymore. The Pro Bowl fullback underwent an emergency appendectomy after practice on Wednesday morning, the team announced.
Felton will most likely miss the rest of the preseason, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
The day started out normally enough for Felton, who took part in Minnesota's Wednesday morning walk-through practice. However, Felton didn't make it to the team's afternoon practice, according to the Star Tribune, because he was being rushed back to Minneapolis to undergo the appendectomy. The Vikings hold their training camp about 80 miles outside of Minneapolis in Mankato, Minn.
Felton sent out a tweet late Wednesday that said 'surgery went great.'

Last season marked Felton's first with the Vikings and the 27-year-old fit in right away. With Felton as his lead blocker, Adrian Peterson ran for a career-high 2,097 yards and was named NFL MVP.
Felton's blocking didn't go unnoticed either as the fifth-year fullback earned his first career Pro Bowl nod last season.
