Playing quarterback against the Jaguars was a little bit too easy for Marcus Mariota in the first half of Thursday night's game, so he decided to try out a new position against Jacksonville: lead blocker.

As it turns out, it seems that he's also pretty good at that.

Midway through the second quarter the Titans drove down to the Jaguars' 14-yard line, thanks in large part to a 30-yard catch by tight end Phillip Supernaw. From the 14, the Titans called a run to DeMarco Murray that looked like it was going to go nowhere.

Murray went right and got caught up behind his offensive line. However, Murray didn't go down, and instead chose to go left, a decision that paid off big time because of his lead blocker.

Let's watch it happen, and make sure to keep your eye on Mariota, who basically cut off the Jaguars defense and allowed Murray to score from 14 yards out:

Murray's touchdown gave the Titans a 24-0 lead.

Here's a closer look at Mariota sacrificing his body for the greater good.

As good as Mariota has been as a blocker, he's been better as a quarterback. The Titans signal-caller put up huge numbers in the first half, going 16 of 19 for 219 yards an a touchdown. The Titans put up 354 yards overall in the first half, putting them on a pace for 708 yards, a total that would be an NFL record.

The Titans outgained the Jaguars 354-60 in the first half and led 27-0 at halftime.
