Alex Anzalone, one of the nation's top linebackers and one of the most coveted recruits in Pennsylvania, made a verbal commitment to Ohio State late Saturday night, according to multiple reports.

The 6-foot-3, 220-pound linebacker from Wyomissing (Pa.) chose the Buckeyes over offers from Florida, Penn State, Notre Dame and others.

Anzalone confirmed his pledge via Twitter.

"... It has been an awesome experience but OSU is the right fit for me. #BuckeyeNation," he tweeted.

One of the fastest-rising recruits in the country, Anzalone's recruitment exploded this winter as his highlight tape began to circulate.

On offense, he's a punishing running back who runs extremely well for his size and is very difficult to take down.

His athleticism lends itself even better to the defensive side of the ball, where he's great in pursuit and possesses impressive closing speed.

Anzalone joins a Buckeye recruiting class that recently ranked No. 6 in the country. Anzalone gives Ohio State a blue-chip linebacker to complement a stable of impressive defensive backs.
