Pinto was designated for assignment by the Brewers on Wednesday.
Pinto was claimed as a free agent back on Dec. 23, but his days on the 40-man roster will prove to be short lived. With both Jonathan Lucroy and Martin Maldonado on the roster, Pinto was unlikely to earn a roster spot out of camp anyway. He'll now get to choose between working his way back up in the Milwaukee farm system, or testing the free agent waters in search of a team looking for depth at catcher. Per Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the Brewers remain hopeful of keeping Pinto in the organization.
