Herrmann was traded to the Diamondbacks on Tuesday for Daniel Palka.
A sixth-round pick in 2009, he was woeful with the bat again last season, posting a .146/.214/.272 batting line with a 7:37 BB:K in 113 plate appearances. Herrmann did, however, provide plus value defensively, and it appears he will compete with Oscar Hernandez and Tuffy Gosewisch (knee) for the backup job in spring training.
