White Sox's Al Alburquerque: Promoted to majors

Alburquerque was called up by the White Sox on Friday.

Alburquerque will join the 40-man roster, along with Chris Volstad, prior to Friday's game with the Giants, putting the White Sox at full capacity. After signing a minor-league deal with the club in early August, the right-hander has compiled a 4.91 ERA and 1.36 WHIP over the course of 11 innings for Triple-A Charlotte. Alburquerque figures to be deployed in low-leverage situations out of Chicago's bullpen moving forward.
