Coyle suffered a concussion Sunday against the Vikings, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
Coyle started in place of Malcolm Smith (hamstring) in the season opener. If the 27-year-old is able to clear the concussion protocol in time to suit up for Week 2's matchup against the Lions, he could once more play a key role in the 49ers' defense.
